Golem:One of the Earliest Tokens of Ethereum Launches on Mainnet
Golem popularly known as the Airbnb for computers was one of the early Ethereum ICO’s finally went live on the Ethereum mainnet.
Golem team announced on April 10th that the time has come to take the big step and launch the beta version of their software onto the mainnet.
Our decision is based on the fact that even though this new stage will expose our project to diverse risks, it is not possible (or responsible) to say a product is finalized without real users.
Golem is a dApp, and as any other, it required testing through a contained “laboratory”. But in order to progress, we need to get out of this comfort zone, and make sure the elements that we have worked hard, and continue to build, are responsive and working well on a decentralized setting.
Golem ICO’d in 2016 and raised around 820000 Eth.It has been in development for over 2 years and is finally live now. Golem aims to use the computational power of the individual computers across the globe to do the job of the servers, computing farms or supercomputers. So if your computer is sitting idle you can rent it out and you will be rewarded accordingly in golem tokens.
So now you can now connect Golem to the Ethereum mainnet and earn/spend real GNT for computations (please remember that you also need a little bit of ETH to make a transaction on the Ethereum blockchain with Golem.
Although they strongly advise to use the testnet first and then only go to the mainnet to understand how the platform works.
Golem also announced a bug bounty recently where the reward pool equals 500000 golem tokens.
CTO and co-founder of the company, Piotr “Viggith” Janiuk, told CoinDesk:
“The release is there to prove to us and everyone that we can actually deliver something that can run on mainnet and that’s really usable. And well, it is.”
Golem Tweeted:
Prorsum et sursum ad excellentiam. Golem is proud to announce we have finally launched our Brass Beta into mainnet. We still have a lot of work to do – but this marks a new beginning for us – read our blog → https://t.co/Nc8FgC9uq8
