Cryptocurrency news: eToro’s latest Bitcoin ad featuring Game of Throne’s Hodor goes viral
eToro, the popular social cryptocurrency and stock trading platform, published an ad video on 16th October on Bitcoin trading on YouTube. The ad stars Game of Throne’s star Kristian Nairn. Kristian is known for playing Hodor, a popular character in Game of Thrones, who only speaks one word: Hodor.
In the ad, Kristian’s agent is giving him character ideas to take part in after Game of Thrones. Not wanting to take part in roles which he has to say Hodor, Kristian takes the advertisement opportunity from eToro. In that ad, he has to say one word, and you guessed it, HODL.
For people who don’t know what is HODL, HODL is an abbreviation of “Hold on for dear life”. It started out as a typo on Bitcointalk by user GameKyuubi and has since then become the term used by traders to not panic sell.
The advertisement is a funny, light ad which tells the market sentiments of holding cryptocurrencies and not panic selling. The video has also gone viral, getting close to a million views in a matter of 36 hours. The video has 968,000 views currently as trending on Reddit and Facebook groups.
