Binance’s swift response saved a man’s funds from being stolen

Binance, arguably the world’s best crypto exchange, proved themselves once again after a man posted that his Binance account was hacked on Reddit. Reddit user “BeanThe5th” posted on the popular r/cryptocurrency subreddit, asking for help regarding his locked Binance account.

His post said that his email account has been hacked and through that, the hackers were able to hack into his social media and exchanges. After the hack, the attacker was able to steal 2 BTC from “BeanThe5th”. But due to his compromised email, he wasn’t able to log in and freeze his Binance account.

Unable to know what to do next, “BeanThe5th” asked the Reddit community for help. That’s where Binance team member with the username of “Jager_Binance” saw the post and took a swift action and froze the hacked account.

Apart from the account being frozen, the steps to unfreeze the account was also provided.

This is not the first time Binance has proved themselves. Whenever there is a rumor on Binance being hacked, the CEO CZ personally clarifies and gives updates on Twitter. This kind of communication has yet to be seen by other exchanges.

Tips to Secure your Binance account

Here are a few tips that you can use to protect your account. These tips are general and can be applied to any exchange for that matter.

  1. Enable 2FA
  2. Do not keep the same password everywhere
  3. Use a different email for Binance, and DO NOT GIVE that email anywhere. This way that email only receives mail form Binance.
