Kaliningrad is one of the host cities of the FIFA World Cup scheduled from June 14th – July 15th 2018. They are expecting visitors from across the world. Apartments Malina, a hotel chain in Kaliningrad has partnered with Free Kassa, a payment processor that supports cryptocurrency payments.
Anna Subbotina, manager of Apartments Malina, commented:
“We are seeing increasing interest in cryptocurrencies. They will gradually come into use as a means of payment.”
“We have decided that fans should be able to pay for our services with the help of this innovative technology”, Subbotina said to Buying Business Travel Russia.
“This is an interesting experience for us – we haven’t worked with hotels so far,” commented Vitaliy Lavrov, Development Manager at Free-Kassa. “The hospitality industry is quite sensitive towards new trends.”
This comes at an interesting moment when Russia is mulling about the legitimacy of cryptocurrencies. It is expected that Russia will legalize the use of cryptocurrencies before the commencement of the World Cup.
