Softbank, Synchronoss And TBCAsoft Collaborate To Bring A Blockchain Powered RCS And Payment Service
Japanese telecom carrier SoftBank, global cloud and IoT leader Synchronoss Technologies and cross-carrier blockchain platform technology owner TBCASoft partner on a Proof of Concept (PoC) to bring a new Rich Communication Services and overseas payment services based on cross-carrier blockchain technology.
Softbank issued a press release on 12th September saying that the Proof Of Concept for P2P mobile payments across different carriers was completed.
Synchronoss recently started a secure communication channel in Japan which included email, messaging and RCS. TBCASoft and SoftBank collaborated to develop a blockchain powered Cross-Carrier Payment Service (CCPS) which allows mobile payment services across global telecommunication carriers.
This service allows in-store, mobile as well as digital payment through a smart device. A customer can travel overseas and make payment for purchases in the country currency rather than the user’s native country’s currency. The CCPS API enables to receive messages and emails from an RCS based app, provide secure Person-to-Person payments (P2P) and use RCS wallets for overseas as well as same country payment.
Commenting on the new service, VC of SoftBank Takeshi Fukuizumi said that their service provides flexibility to suit the customer’s payment needs as well as makes use of the latest technology to make their services future ready. In the same link, CEO of Sychronoss said that the use of RCS and blockchain to design new services put current messaging and payment services on the backseat, creating opportunities for fresh ideas, brands, and businesses to sprout. With increasing numbers of Communication Service Providers turning towards blockchain technology, CCPS is ideally positioned to take a lead.
