UNICEF to Fund Six Blockchain Projects from Emerging Markets

The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) just announced that six startups in developing and emerging economies will receive up to $100,000 USD investment from UNICEF’s Innovation Fund to solve global challenges using Blockchain technology.

Selected from more than 100 applicants across 50 countries, these six startups, namely: Atix Labs from Argentina, Onesmart and Prescrypto from Mexico, Utopixar from Tunisia, Statwig from India and W3 Engineers from Bangladesh will get one-year to develop their open-source prototypes of blockchain applications.

Chris Fabian, Principal Adviser at UNICEF Innovation, said:

“Blockchain technology is still at an early stage — and there is a great deal of experimentation, failure, and learning ahead of us as we see how, and where, we can use this technology to create a better world. That’s exactly the stage when UNICEF Innovation Fund invests: when our financing, technical support, and focus on vulnerable populations can help a technology grow and mature in the most fair and equitable way possible”

Apart from the funding, UNICEF will also provide assistance with the products and technology, as well as share access to its network of experts, partners, and mentors.

Blockmanity’s Take

UNICEF is going all out to fund various projects in the Blockchain space. These six startups have a unique opportunity to take their projects to the next level. We wish them luck…
