Which cities are googling the most about Bitcoins?

Bitcoins being a new market currency, seems to be attracting a lot of attention from the least expected cities of the world. Tuur Demeester, a renowned bitcoin economist, shared some data on the cities which google about bitcoin the most.

  1. Lagos, Nigeria

This city is well known for its economic woes and hence doesn’t come as a surprise that it is the top city that searches about Bitcoin. It uses bitcoin as a hedge against inflation. This is also the city that Googles the maximum about buying bitcoins beating New York who is in third place by almost five times.

  1. Vienna, Austria

Vienna came second to Lagos with a 70% search result to that of Lagos. The interesting fact is that Vienna has only one-tenth the population of Lagos, this means that there were 7.3 times as many searches as the per capita of Vienna. So why do the people of Vienna google so much about bitcoins exactly?

  1. San Jose, California

No surprises here as this is where the majority of the silicon valley lives. There is so much diversity in the top three locations of the searches about bitcoins, but the drive seems to be the same.

  1. Los Angeles, California

This being a city of Hollywood, along with some rich and private beaches along the coastline makes it one of the deserving places on the list.

  1. Toronto, Canada

This is Canada’s most populated city and holds around 218 bitcoin ATM’s in and around Toronto. Beats Montreal is Canada’s second largest city at this by almost twice. This is also a city which is home to a lot of Crypto startups and the birthplace of the second largest Cryptocurrency Ethereum (ETH).

  1. Munich, Germany

It was only last year that Munich got its first bitcoin ATM, and yet both Munich and Berlin which holds the 8th position are featured in the top 10 cities which show that their interest in bitcoin is far exceeded than their regulatory bodies.

  1. New York, USA

They must be getting worried about requiring a BitLicense to google about bitcoins in the near future. New York post has not been able to put them off clearly.

  1. Singapore

The people of Singapore are so far ahead of the rest of the world that their own government has started investing in cryptocurrency.

  1. Sydney, Australia

People of Sydney must be just checking where to spend their bitcoin on a kebab.

So this list is majorly made up of western countries, an African city, and an Asian country.
