Roger Ver, the CEO of Bitcoin.com, the entry point for new people to learn about Bitcoin, just announced that Bitcoin.com wallet will no longer support the Bitcoin core by default and would give preference to Bitcoin Cash. Roger Ver announced this news at the Satoshi Vision Conference in Tokyo, Japan.
Roger Ver has publicly shown disdain for Bitcoin Core and is a prime advocator of Bitcoin Cash. There is a civil war between the Bitcoin Core team and Bitcoin Cash team, with both sides presenting arguments on which currency is better. Bitcoin Cash team says that Bitcoin is not scalable hence Bitcoin Cash exists while Bitcoin Core team says that Bitcoin will be scalable after the introduction of Lightning network and Segwit.
Roger Ver’s decision is based on the fact that Bitcoin investors do not use Bitcoin Core for day to day transaction but rather hold it as an investment. While the Bitcoin.com wallet will now be modified to support day to day transaction, supported by Bitcoin Cash.
For clarification purposes, your old Bitcoin.com wallet will function the same way but the new wallets will give preference towards Bitcoin Cash. The update will take effect immediately in the next update.
Stay tuned for the latest development in this space.
