If you follow any influencer on Twitter chances are you would have come across comments in which the same influencer is having a huge ETH giveaway. To take part in the giveaway you need to send “0.2-0.5 ETH”. Once done you will receive “2-4 ETH”.
This is the most common type of Twitter scam and already $5 Million worth of ETH has been stolen through this scam.
According to Cryptomania, a total of 8148 ETH was stolen through the giveaway scam and more than 4000 types of scams have been logged out which 700 are still active.
The scam became so common that it prompted Vitalik Buterin to start the “Not Giving ETH away” campaign and other crypto influencers to start contacting Jack Dorsey, the CEO of Twitter to do something about the scams.
