Embark was launched by Status projects back in May 2018 to provide the foundation of the Web3 Ecosystem. The Alpha Version 4.0 was released on October 31st delivering a suite of new tools and features to serve as the ground control for Embark.
Embark is a framework that allows for easier development and deployment of Ethereum based Decentralized Applications (DApps).
Embark 4.0 provides a new suite of tools and features including a brand new web UI dashboard that will serve as the ground control for Embark. To make developing, debugging, and deploying simpler, and easier for all Ethereum developers a control room called “Cockpit” has been made accessible.
According to their Blog, the Cockpit mainly contains:
The cockpit comes with a Dashboard to provide an overview of all the processes that the Embarks instance is connected to like the Blockchain client or IPFS. It also comes with an interactive console that gives status and transactions updates in real time. A predictive command feature has been added which will help developers get command suggestions.
The Cockpit comes with its own Blockchain explorer to give all the insights and data on the transactions and the Blocks. It also allows the developers to make changes to the application’s code using an integrated web editor, For example, when the developer is editing a smart contract, Cockpit automatically detects it and provides a smart contract view. It also allows calling contract APIs from within the web interface and has an integrated live debugger.
One of the major challenges in deploying smart contracts is that once it is deployed it cannot be rolled back hence bugs can be critical. To combat this problem Cockpit has rolled out a brand new deployment panel where one can deploy single, or multiple Smart Contracts to production safely with full control over the process.
Cockpit also has easy to use tools that the developers can take advantage of such as such as an Ether converter, a Whisper tester, an ENS tester, a transaction decoder and a tool to sign and verify messages using Web3.
The Embark team is expanding in size and is committed to grow the ecosystem by making it more easier for developers to build on the Ethereum Blockchain.
