The world of NFTs has come a long way since its early days and even its big debut, which was during 2020-2021. Quite frankly, the whole space has since become a one-stop-shop for all kinds of weird NFTs and collections out there, as if the NFT space has become a haven for all quirky and funny ideas, which is astonishing in all senses of the word, as it goes to show how progressive and accepting the world of NFTs is for every concept that an aspiring artist or creator has, which only paves a better path for more quirky collections to come out on the fly!
So in that regard, how about we carefully curate a list of 10 of these quirky NFTs/Collections so we can smile about them, and then talk about how diverse the space is and how everything’s slowly changing for the better, thanks to Fractionalization!
It’s important to note that this list is in no way indicative of anything other than the fact that they are creatively funny, and on that same note, this list is made in no particular order of funniness levels.
Without further ado, let’s get right into it!
- Ghozali Everyday (Floor price:0.08ETH): Back in the early weeks of 2022, the whole NFT space was shaken from its seats, not because of anything innovative or groundbreaking, mind you, but because one Indonesian crypto-enthusiast decided to make a name for himself in the NFT industry by selling photos of himself in front of the computer since 2019. Yup, you heard that right, selfies. Each NFT displays Mr. Ghozali in a different attire (Which I still believe is one of the reasons why NFTs have this trope where each character’s shown a combination of clothing pieces to accentuate uniqueness, but I digress), all with that same unassuming facial expression as if saying “yep, you’re looking at my picture, and you’d think it’s weird and funny that you’ll buy it” and it worked! Today, his collection’s racking in a total of 404 ETH in volume, with no use-case or whatnot!
- Goblintown.wtf (Floor price: 0289 ETH): “AAAAAAAUUUUUGGGHHHHH gobblins goblinns GOBLINNNNNNNNns wekm ta goblintown yoo sniksnakr DEJEN RATS oooooh rats are yummmz dis a NEFTEEE O GOBBLINGS on da BLOKCHIN wat? oh. crustybutt da goblinking say GEE EMMM DEDJEN RUTS an queenie saay HLLO SWEATIES ok dats all byeby” Is what their NFT collection description says. It’s also a crystal clear depiction of what you should expect with this collection. Set in a world overrun by barely-sentient goblins and the society they built around their culture, this whole collection screams utter weirdness and meme culture, as goblins received quite the attention in the meme world during the days of this NFT Project’s release. If you’re thinking, that that’s all there is to Goblintown, well you’re right. No use cases, no community hub, they barely even had a social presence, and the one time they used Twitter to set up a space for their fans, every single one of the team members behind this project spewed incoherent words and screams. Yet the project skyrocketed in popularity and value overnight, amassing a total of 64,097 ETH even to this day which got everyone thinking: “What the hell is this all about?!” You’ll have to applaud them for one revolutionary concept though, as Goblintown is the first NFT project to pioneer the “free mint” idea to rack in enthusiasts, which became a general staple in the industry even to this day.
- Bored Ape Yacht Club (Floor price: 38.69 ETH): The quintessentially -weird and quirky NFT Collection of 2021. Bored Ape Yacht Club is all about weirdness and the lavish life of being a yacht owner. While this NFT Collection rode the wave of the NFT Hype in 2021, amassing millions of dollars in revenue and cementing its name in the history of NFTs forever. Depicting apes in a plethora of poses, facial expressions, and attires, drawn on a rad art style, the project gained popularity and sustained that fame even to this day. BAYC for the most part, didn’t even have a use case other than being very stupendously expensive, but since then, they innovated, airdropping huge amounts of money to their holders in the form of $APE coin, launching a pretty linear but okay-ish videogame (which is arguably one of the most expensive playable video games out there by the way), and an animated series allegedly. BAYC became famous for one thing and then banked on it to become one of the most recognizable projects out there.
- CryptoPunks (Floor Price: Indeterminate): The one who started this all. Initially a free mint project back then, it became a hit phenomenon out of nowhere, suddenly amassing millions of dollars per transaction and each NFT costing upwards of $23 million (yes, that high)! All of this with no use case, a community built by its supporters only after the whole collection took off, and nothing else. The NFTs aren’t that remarkable, frankly speaking, and that is what makes them quirky, well aside from the fact that they hold a large chapter in the history of NFTs considering they were one of the first true NFT Collections out there, officially being launched in 2017.
- The Potatoz (Floor Price: 2.05 ETH): Produced and Launched by 9gag, yes the meme page giant of 2009 onwards, and part of a larger “Memeland” universe, the Potatoz is another free mint project that was launched mid-2022 to a select few people, The Potatoz isn’t that much remarkable for its art which is in 9bit pixel art depicting potatoes in all manners of quirks, some of them even referencing old memes, or for its utilities, considering they offer staples in the industry like staking and passive-earning potentials. What makes The Potatoz recognizably funny is the fact that it came from 9gag, and, well the community itself, as it’s filled with equally-hilarious people who probably had a dedicated meme folder on their computers.
- Pixelmon (Floor Price: 0.59 ETH): This name made a lot of buzzes last year because of their hilariously-bad art style. That’s it. Since then, they improved upon it, and you won’t see any semblance of horrendous art in it anymore, but now and again, you’d look at a Pixelmon meme (you’d most likely see the Pixelmon Zombie, which is an NFT that the community made a mascot out of and had adopted since then) and you’d chuckle. I mean, I did.
These NFTs all came from a time when the whole world knew little about what NFTs are or what they could do except that they are expensive and they don’t have real-world value other than profit. The whole industry already shifted away from that stereotype and had been making grounds once again for pioneering revolutionary technologies. One of which is Fractional NFTs which is a massive game-changer for the NFT space as it opens opportunities for every buyer to get a piece out of an expensive NFT/NFT Collection without breaking the bank, all with the use cases and privileges that a whole NFT comes with, by the way!
With that being said, a quirky project from across the NFT space is pioneering a newfound land filled with innovation and possibilities, Ommniverse.AI. Filled with collections of projects that usher in the next-gen world of ERC-1155 and fractional NFTs, I saw fit to look at some of their quirky NFT collections available as well.

Most of the quirk factor that made me put these NFTs on the list is because it reminded me of something (particularly a meme) the first time I saw it.

- Smoking Skull (Price: 108 OMMI): Have you ever seen that meme of a Mortal Kombat Character named Jax lighting up a cigar and then immediately bursting into flames to reveal his skeleton, still puffing that cigar? Well, if you don’t, I painted a rather vivid picture of the meme, so check it out! That’s basically what I got reminded of when I saw this NFT collection. It’s quirky, and it’s remotely funny, especially if you saw what I saw and thought what I thought when I saw this NFT!
- Cometh Dark Hour (Price: 68 OMMI): Depicting an anime character from the hit Anime-series called Bleach, as he blasts his enemy away with his Cero (a special laser-type attack in the series), this NFT is enough to put a smile on a few anime lovers’ faces and make every die-hard fan of the Anime series jump with excitement as their favorite character’s minted to an NFT. The NFT is a fanart too, which makes this all the more spectacular.
- Modern Spiderman (Price: 107 OMMI): Depicting a disheveled (I would guess) Peter Parker in an art style that reminded me so much of MeatCanyon’s animated videos (check him out on YouTube), this NFT Collection is also one of the hottest NFT Collections in the Omniverse platform, so I highly suggest you check them out and secure one copy of this funny-looking friendly neighbor Spider-Man!

We’ve seen countless innovative projects out there with all their unique features and benefits that they offer every holder, but now and again, it’s just enough for an NFT project to be quirky and funny enough for it to be a hit.
This is a testament to how welcome everything is in the industry, and how open it is to possibilities in the future that could make it better, like Fractional NFTs and ERC-1155.
