PumaPay Partners with Institute For the Future (IFF) at the University of Nicosia to Advance Blockchain Research

PumaPay becomes a founding member of The Institute For the Future (IFF) at the University of Nicosia based out of Cyprus, according to a Press Release.

The University of Nicosia has created a new interdisciplinary research center dedicated to the research and expansion of Blockchain and Artificial intelligence. PumaPay which is also based out of Cyprus has joined the university as a founding member to help advance this program.

The Cyprus based university has embraced the Blockchain and Cryptocurrency revolution, it was the first institute to launch a Masters Degree in Digital Currency. The IFF’s vision is to become the leading academic research center across the EU and eventually the world. It will be interesting how this partnership will play out especially given the close proximity of both these entities.

George Giaglis, Director of IFF at the University of Nicosia said:

“We are excited to welcome PumaPay as a Founding Member of the Institute For the Future. As IFF aspires to become a leading source of research and technology development at the intersection of exponential technologies, including blockchain, it is essential to bring together both large corporations and innovative start-ups working on these technologies. We expect PumaPay’s expertise in blockchain-based payment protocols, coupled with the know-how of our other corporate and academic members, to contribute significantly to realizing IFF’s vision”

PumaPay is known for its unique “PullPayment” Protocol which allows merchants to pull funds out of the customers account without the need of a third party. The company aims to make Cryptocurrencies viable for payments and eventually replace services like VISA and MasterCard. PumaPay recently launched on the Mainnet enabling recurring Ethereum Payments.

Given that universities are mainly focused on the research of cutting-edge technologies and not necessarily implementing them in the real world, PumaPay’s involvement in the research effort could serve as an advantage both for the company and the university.

Yoav Dror, CEO of PumaPay said:

“Blockchain technology holds great promise for the future – not just in payments, but in nearly every sphere of our life. As we develop our innovative payment solution, in the way that has never been done before, we consult with the brightest minds and latest research of this new industry. We see ourselves as a bridge between the academic research and real-world practical application of the blockchain technology as we develop our payment solution”
