The Year in Review for Ripple (XRP)

It’s been a phenomenally interesting 2018 for Cryptocurrency, overshadowed with the bears waking up throughout the year. There have been debates on regulations, interesting ideas emerging, innovating institutionalization being laid as a foundation and many more.

One coin that has emerged a clear winner in this challenging but significant year as Changpeng Zhao of Binance called it ‘Correction Year’ has been Ripple. Ripple’s cross-border technology of Ripplenet has slowly replaced the word SWIFT with Ripple amongst financial institutions.

Ripple’s team worked its magic and implemented RippleNet in 40 countries with over 100 participating companies.

Major Partnerships for Ripple

Ripple formed alliances with major banking institutions such as –

  • Santander Bank
  • SBI Holdings
  • Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group
  • Mizuho Financial Group
  • Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank
  • Bank of America Merrill Lynch
  • Barclays
  • American Express FX International Payments
  • MoneyGram
  • Western Union
  • Siam Commercial Bank

It’s not just banks, but even payment providers that have taken an interest in RippleNet. These include Santander’s OnePay FX, CoinOne Transfer’s Cross mobile applications. Even major cross-border payment provider, Western Union has been testing Ripple’s technology of xRapid and will soon implement it in its system.

Philanthropy Work

In inclusion to expanding, Ripple has even given back to the world.  The introduction of RippleWorks helps social ventures who are unable to cope with technology. RippleWorks has already worked on 70 plus projects in 55 countries in 4 years with an improvement to over 250 million people’s lives.

Ripple for Good helps improve facilities to the unbanked using Blockchain, Cryptocurrency and other advancing technologies.

Even celebrities like Ashton Kutcher demonstrated the ease of donating using Ripple’s technology, on live television on the Ellen De Generes show. The famous actor and comedian donated $4 million towards Ellen’s wildlife foundation called Ellen Degeneres Wildlife Fund. It portrayed the fast and cheap transaction of XRP from one user to another.

Thus Ripple’s efforts have helped create an example of how helpful the Crypto community is as a whole!
