Vitalik Buterin & Joseph Poon goes head to head with Craig Wright at event, calls Wright a fraud

At the Deconomy event held in Seoul, South Korea, Vitalik Buterin continues his long-standing feud with Craig Wright even calling him a fraud to his face. Joseph Poon, the creator of the Lightning Network and an advisor to Omise Go also made public his displeasure regarding Craig Wright’s claims of the Lightning Network.

Vitalik Buterin had decided to live tweet the Bitcoin section “Bitcoin, Controversy over Principle,” where there were presentations by Craig Wright and a debate between Roger Ver & Blockstream CSO, Samson Mow. Vitalik had taken umbrage at certain claims made by Craig Wright’s answers at the debate and mauled him during the Q&A.

“Why’s this fraud even allowed to speak at this conference ?”

Joseph Poon followed Vitalik by saying:

“I wrote the lightning network paper and I straight up don’t understand a word of your presentation”

Vitalik even live-tweeted his thoughts regarding Craig Wright’s talk. For people who didn’t understand a word of what he said because of poor audio quality, the tweets make better sense.

This is not a new development.

Craig Wright is famous in the crypto space for having proclaimed himself as Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin. It was followed up by articles in the BBC, The Economist & GQ.

This was followed by a vociferous outrage by the community for his false claims. Vitalik Buterin had made his thoughts regarding Wright’s claim to Satoshi very clear in this video below.
