Winding Tree to host Travel Hackathon in Lisbon this July

Following Winding Tree’s successful #HackTravel Prague hackathon last year, the company is hosting the second edition of this hackathon July 3-5, 2019 in Lisbon. This year the focus will be on business innovation within the travel space.

Last year’s hackathon brought together competitors, such as Air France and Lufthansa, who collaborated together in order to bring innovation to the antiquated travel industry. As a result, Air France became the first airline to allow external developers, including those from competing airlines, inside its system.

Winding Tree, a non-profit organization is building an open source Blockchain based travel distribution platform. Winding Tree’s distributed ledger stores URLs, indexes and all the inventory content in a distributed fashion which according to the company will split the billions of dollars that travel middlemen currently take. This means lower prices for travelers and higher profits for companies providing good service.

Winding Tree has crafted #HackTravel specifically for key players in the travel industry, including leaders from hotels, airlines, OTAs, and startups. Participants will work collaboratively with software companies and developers to tackle real-world industry pain points, creating Proof-of-Concept proposals alongside technical hacks and gaining collective expertise.

Where to Apply?

Apply HERE and get your tickets.

Who can participate?

The best part about the hackathon is that the participants need not necessarily be developers, anyone in the travel industry with a product, business or executive background can also apply for the hackathon and share their expertise.

What can I gain?

  • Lots of learning on building decentralized solutions
  • Chance to leverage the talent in the hackathon to build proof of concepts.
  • Learn about other projects
  • Chance to collaborate with the Winding Tree team.
