Ethereum’s Vitalik Buterin and Tron’s Justin Sun Troll Each Other over BitTorrent
The Crypto industry is never short of controversies and trolling. The latest Crypto controversy involves Ethereum’s Vitalik Buterin and Tron CEO Justin Sun. So grab some popcorn as the story unfolds.
Vitalik had previously mentioned BitTorrent on twitter and had even praised it a couple of times. This was picked up by Misha Ledermen who is a Tron proponent.
#Ethereum's @VitalikButerin is asked in Oct 2017: "outside of Bitcoin no one has proved a real long lasting use case for decentralized applications"?
His answer:
"BitTorrent :)"In Nov 2018 asked: "Could you describe a metagame success?"
Answer:
"BitTorrent."#TRON #BTT #TRX pic.twitter.com/In0uhPiYr3— Misha Lederman (@mishalederman) February 8, 2019
Vitalik tweeted this in 2017
and this in December 2018
Justin was quick to take this as an opportunity to promote the BitTorrent (BTT) and Tron (TRX) tokens. He took a jab at Vitalik asking him to join a special Valentine’s day campaign dedicated to him.
He said:
Thank you @VitalikButerin for standing out! I have a secret campaign especially for you in #ValentinesDay! Don’t forget to join it! #TRON #TRX $TRX #BitTorrent #BTT $BTT
Vitalik praised BitTorrent but not necessarily the token
This time Vitalik decided to use satire to troll Justin Sun. He took a tweet on entropy from Elon Musk and used it to promote Entropy tokens “endorsed” by Elon Musk.
He then explained to his followers that it was just a joke and was dedicated to the “coin shills” who took his tweets out of context to promote their own tokens (who actually went and searched for entropy tokens…seriously!).
Note for the uninitiated: yes I am making fun of twitter coin shills who are taking my tweet about VPNs and bittorrent out of context.

Justin acquired BitTorrent in May last year for $140 Million, its creator Bran Cohen left the project soon after the acquisition and even tweeted that he is not affiliated with Justin Sun or BitTorrent.
I'm no longer in any way affiliated with BitTorrent and have never been affiliated with Tron or Justin Sun

Simon Morris, former Chief Strategy Officer at BitTorrent said in an interview with Breaker a couple of days after it announced the launch of its token that Tron won’t be able to handle BitTorrent’s load and will end up becoming a centralized server.
Even though BitTorrent has proven out to be successful with millions of users, there are still many red flags regarding the utility and the value proposition of the BTT token. It hasn’t been proved yet but yet managed to pump significantly after its launch due to speculation and hype.
Yes, Vitalik has praised BitTorrent and so have many other experts but that does not necessarily mean that they endorse the token, to use those statements as endorsements to the token is mere hype and can be misleading to a lot of investors.
Tron, however, is beating Ethereum in terms of active usage of dApps, We recently wrote an article about it.
