Bitcoin & Litecoin wallets less secure on iPhone X and older

Litecoin developer, Loshan, took to Twitter to warn the cryptocurrency community that Bitcoin and Litecoin wallets are unsafe on iPhones older than iPhone X (including iPhone X). The warning comes in the wake of a new exploit being discovered which can jailbreak millions of iPhones.

The news comes after Twitter user @axi0mX released an open-source iOS jailbreaking software which allows hardware-level jailbreaking of the iPhone. Affected chipsets range from iPhone 4S (A5 chip) to iPhone X (A11 Chip). iPads released before 2019 are also at risk.
Due to the jailbreaking software chipset, an attacker can gain root access for chipsets older than A11. Root access to a device can give an attacker access to private keys stored on a device. The attacker would require a physical presence of the device to exploit though. Loshan also adds that the issue cannot be fixed by a software patch.
According to research conducted by Litecoin Foundation, the majority of the users using Loafwallet (Litecoin wallet from Litecoin Foundation) are iOS users.
