Ethereum Based Micro Blogging dApp Peepeth is now Completely Free to Use

Peepeth is a microblogging dApp (Decentralized Application) which uses the Ethereum and IPFS technologies is now free for anyone to use. It is also arguably Vitalik’s favorite dApp so far.

Before this recent development, users had to pay a small amount of Gas for every Peep (Similar to a Tweet) on the dApp. But now users can sign up for free and peep without having to spend any Ether.

The user can sign up on to the platform without even owning any Ether, using Metamask the user will be able to create an account and will be given a unique address.

Here is how Peepeth is different from Twitter or other micro Blogging sites.

  • Censorship Resistant – Unlike centralized companies, the content will be stored on IPFS and the Ethereum Blockchain which are both censorship resistant. Even under force or pressure, no one from the team will be able to censor the Peeps or accounts even if they want to.
  • Data is open and Decentralized – The data is stored on the Ethereum Blockchain and IPFS(Peer-to-peer distributed file sharing system ) hence the data will be forever accessible, cannot be destroyed or owned by anyone else except the user. Since it is stored on Ethereum which is a public Blockchain it is open to everyone.
  • No Ads – As the user data is not owned by anyone there is no advertising of any sort.

The application was previously criticized for its requirement of Eth from users to interact on the platform. It is anyways a bit hard for non-Crypto friendly people to use extensions like Metamask and if they will have to need Ether to sign up on the platform that will add another barrier for users.

The team after recognizing this problem has decided to get rid of that barrier for a better user experience. This seems like a legit way in which dApps should be built to achieve real-world usability.

Blockmanity’s Take

Unlike most dApps, the team actually built the product first without raising Millions of Dollars in any ICO. Instead of selling the so-called “Utility tokens” to investors in a pre pre pre-sale they have built the product with a real use case.

The team is now carrying out a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds to further develop and grow the dApp with a goal of 1000 Eth. Users will be receiving badges with different features in return to their donations.

Note: This is not a Sponsored post of any kind, just a shout out from Blockmanity for a serious application built on Web 3.0.
