‘Friends’ Star Courteney Cox Joins Tron in a Charity Initiative For ALS Patients
Courteney Cox, who is famous for her role as Monica in the TV show Friends has joined hands with Tron’s Justin Sun to raise awareness and funds for the ALS Association. The campaign is called Voice your love, a theme chosen for this year’s Valentine’s day.
“We’re on a mission to uncover a cure while serving, advocating for, and empowering people affected by ALS. We challenge you to get involved by making a donation and voicing your love for those important to you.”
In 2014, the ALS Association raised US$ 115 million with the ice bucket challenge to help raise awareness of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). ALS is popularly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease which affects over 5600 people every year.
Justin Sun is also enlisting BitTorrent, to host bonus video footage for the campaign. In 2018, Sun had acquired BitTorrent. This kind move bought good news for Tron users as they will now be able to donate directly in its native TRX currency. Binance’s Charity arm is also joining Tron to sponsor the campaign.
Sun is proud to be associated with ALS Association for raising money and awareness for this disease, he stated,
“The Tron and BitTorrent community has over 100 million people, and it’s statistically possible that thousands of you are afflicted with ALS. In your honor, I’m donating US$250,000 and urging others in the blockchain industry to voice their love by donating to help find a cure.”

This act of goodwill is set to boost the network of Tron and ALS Association. The blockchain company has enlisted Courteney Cox and Renée Zellweger, the winner of three Golden Globe awards, to record videos for the charity campaign. To get the movement started, Cox filmed a video expressing her love for her friend Nancy who is suffering from Lou Gehrig’s disease.
Hal Finney, a famous Cypherpunk and Bitcoin pioneer, died from ALS in 2014 at an age of 58 years. He was the first person to receive Bitcoin from Satoshi’s wallet and many people believe he was Satoshi. His body has been cryogenically preserved. Such charity movements have and will resonate in the hearts of those in the Bitcoin community.
