TORONTO, Canada, May 31st, 2019 — In honor of International Children’s Day, the cryptocurrency community is joining forces May 31 – June 2, as CryptoChicks and CasperLabs put on the the CryptoChicks Hack-A-Thon + Blockchain A.I. Conference, a three-day event taking place at RBC WaterPark Place in Toronto, Canada.
CryptoChicks, one of the largest women in tech international organizations in the world, was started by Natalia Ameline, mother to Ethereum’s Vitalik Buterin, and her friend, Elena Sinelnikova. After being asked by Vitalik to install Ethereum wallet on her Window’s laptop, it took both women, who have two Masters of Computer Science, along with three hours of trial and error, to figure out how it operated. Ultimately, they created a meetup for women who can learn this space together and help one another. It has since grown into an international organization with chapters in Canada, U.S.A., Russia, Pakistan, and Bahamas.
CasperLabs, a fully decentralized, scalable, new proof-of-stake blockchain, with CEO Medha Parlikar and Lead CBC Casper Architect, Vlad Zamfir is currently working on a fully decentralized, sharded, and scalable distributed ledger technology (DLT) that will rely on a groundbreaking proof of stake protocol. The protocol, CBC-Casper, will extend and augment decades of research into byzantine fault tolerance. Zamfir is also Ethereum Foundation’s architect and researcher.
As part of the three-day event, Zamfir will be speaking on the “Scaling Web 3.0 –The First Billion Users of Blockchain” panel, moderated by CasperLabs co-founder, Steve Nerayoff. The panel includes the son of CryptoChicks’ Natalia Ameline, Vitalik Buterin.
From the beginning, Natalia has supported the work her son has done, and coinciding with June 1st, Global Parents Day, an international holiday recognized by the United Nations (UN), she, in addition to her husband, Dmitriy Buterin, will be able to see their son in action at their very own event.
The UN proclaimed June 1st to be the Global Day of parents to appreciate all parents throughout the world for their selfless commitment to their children and their lifelong sacrifice towards nurturing such a relationship. Coinciding with International Children’s Day, both work hand-in-hand to show full circle, the love and power of family.
CasperLabs, which differs in opinion with respect to blockchain scalability, is still part of the Ethereum family.
“We are open-source purists and we are decentralization purists,” Mrinal Manohar, CEO of Adaptive Labs, CasperLabs’ parent company, explained in his interview with CryptoGlobe. “A lot of us on the team were early investors in Ethereum, so you know we love it. We think it’s a great platform.”
Medha Parlikar, CEO of CasperLabs, elaborated in an interview on how CasperLabs innovates the existing technology:
“The technology promises to scale the blockchain without sacrificing decentralization through proof of stake consensus and open and permission-less access. If Blockchains are centralized, there is not much point to using them; storing provenance of data privately is a solved problem, a database would be more appropriate”.
Turning to the panel, Zamfir is expected to be discussing the future of decentralization, revolving around blockchain scalability and the CBC Casper Proof-of-Stake Protocol.
The event is anticipating over 1,000 guests and some of the industry’s top developers and exhibitors in the Blockchain and AI sectors. For those unable to attend the conference at RBC WaterPark Place, CasperLabs and Etherium’s panel will be live-streamed and can be watched here.
CasperLabs is developing a fully decentralized, scalable, public blockchain designed for mass enterprise, developer, and consumer adoption. The team lead by CasperLabs CEO Medha Parlikar and Lead Casper Developer Michael Birch is developing a new open source blockchain project. The protocol uses CBC-Casper, a Correct by Construction, Proof of Stake consensus protocol that uses bonds and slashing (penalties) to secure the network. CasperLabs is sponsoring research done by top blockchain researcher, Vlad Zamfir, who is the Lead Architect of CBC Casper. Releases of the CasperLabs node software can be found on GitHub at https://github.com/CasperLabs.
