Twitter bans ICO ads starting from Tuesday
Twitter announced that they will ban all ICO ads starting from Tuesday (27th March). Following the likes of Facebook and Google which had banned cryptocurrency related ads. Facebook was the first to ban at the end of January which was followed by Google which announced that the ban will go into effect from June 2018.
We had reported on March 18th about the rumors about Twitter ban which was not confirmed at the time.
“We are committed to ensuring the safety of the Twitter community. As such, we have added a new policy for Twitter Ads relating to cryptocurrency,” a Twitter spokesperson told CNBC Monday. “Under this new policy, the advertisement of Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) and token sales will be prohibited globally.”
Earlier this month Twitter had taken action to remove many accounts impersonating famous personalities like Elon Musk, Vitalik Buterin, and John Mcafee.
Twitter will implement the ban from Tuesday and will reach everyone in the next 30 days according to the policy.
“The policy will be fully enforceable among all advertisers within a month,” Twitter tells The Verge
