2020 US Presidential Candidate Andrew Yang is Pro Crypto and is Gaining Traction
The race for the 2020 US Presidential elections is already in full swing with candidates like Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, Tulsi Gabbard, Bernie Sanders, etc announcing their run for the presidency. Among them is a new candidate Andrew Yang who seems to understand the implications of disruptive technologies like Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain.
Unlike many other presidential candidates who are career politicians, Andrew is an entrepreneur most well known as the founder of Venture for America which is a non-profit aimed at “Mobilizing the next generation of entrepreneurs and equipping them with the skills and resources they need to create jobs.”
What is Yang’s view on Crypto?
Andrew Yang is no stranger to Cryptocurrencies, he tweeted about Bitcoin as early as 2013. He also started accepting Cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin, Ethereum and other ERC 20 tokens in July last year. One is able to make Crypto donations to his campaign after filling a form identifying themselves and answering a call from his team.
HUGE news – my campaign can now accept Bitcoin, Ethereum and other cryptocurrencies! https://t.co/GScyqfZXLY Let’s build the future together. @Steven_McKie @JulianSarokin @yidagao @AdamDraper @mashadrokova @albertwenger @novogratz @ericbahn @RamanFrey @richardtitus

Andrew also talked about Blockchain and Crypto technology in a Facebook AMA. He said:
“I’m a fan of the underlying technology around Blockchain, it has a wealth of potential. I do think the entire Cryptocurrency phenomenon has gotten a bit ahead of itself but that’s normal when there’s a new technology.
You see that with stocks in the dot com bubble 1.0 where it went too far but you laid this real foundation that ends up creating awesome value and that’s what I think is going to happen in the Crypto space where the Blockchain has immense potential to enable transparency and trust”
During a Facebook AMA I was asked about crypto and blockchain. I think the technology has massive potential to create a more transparent society. A smart government would embrace this and work with it. I would do that. pic.twitter.com/Vn2vYvKDSg

Yang’s Campaign hits new milestones
Yang’s campaign has been gaining good traction lately, it recently achieved 65.000 individual donors from 20 different states which makes Yang eligible to participate in the first presidential debate. Yang will join the debate along with 19 other candidates including Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, Cory Brooker, and others.
Yang has also appeared on various shows like the Joe Rogan Experience, Daily show, Breakfast Club, etc. The 44-year-old mainly advocates for a $12,000 annual Universal Basic Income, Medicare for all and Human-centered capitalism.
The lack of regulatory clarity in the Blockchain/Cryptocurrency space is slowing down the adoption and the incentive for entrepreneurs to create viable businesses. Candidates like Yang who understand and embrace the technology sparks a new array of hope for Crypto enthusiasts.
