Cryptopayments on Whatsapp : A much needed breakthrough
The increasing popularity of bitcoin is hard to ignore. A fact that has been well understood by software developers across the globe. In an attempt to augment the ‘crypto fad’, several companies are aiming to combine Cryptocurrencies with social media platforms.
A report from The Daily Express surfaced on Monday highlighting a product by Wuabit that allows users to pay in Bitcoins on platforms like Whatsapp and Telegram. Wuabit is a Cryptocurrency wallet that can work in the chat interface in Whatsapp. A ‘software agent’ powered by specialized artificial intelligence, Wuabit will soon enable social media users to carry out bitcoin transactions through Whatsapp, Telegram, and SMS.
In order to send bitcoin to a friend all you will have to do is type in commands such as “send 0.05 BTC to Vera.” The developers admit that their prime focus is on making the user experience simple and easy to use. Beta testing is due to start next month.
Wuabit is not the only company thinking this way. There have been reports that the social media giant Facebook is planning to launch their own stablecoin that will enable cross border payments via WhatsApp. Samsung too has enabled Ethereum Crypto wallet in their new S10 smartphone.
It is truly a remarkable idea as it will enable mass adoption of cryptocurrency and introduce a large number of people to this complicated space. A well thought out strategic move, this will surely increase the accessibility of Bitcoin.
